Havmøller
"I have a background in motion design, and back then I thought that I was supposed to do that forever. But one day I saw this YouTube video that changed my life. Right then and there, I knew I wanted to tell stories. So, I quit my job, moved to a new city, and for a year I slept on my friend's couch, using his living room as an office, and said yes to every opportunity that involved making films. It was in many ways a leap of faith and I had no idea if it would work out – but I guess it did."
“Ever since then my motivation for making films, comes from the urge to tell young fuckups like myself, to find their spark, at pursue what they love.”
Jakob Havmøller officially began his journey studying classic hand-drawn animation for a year, then straight onto VFX and motion design at one of Denmark's leading schools in the field. He graduated and began his creative career at the age of nineteen as a motion graphics designer at TV 2 DENMARK. After three years at the company, he quit his job to pursue a career making films, and has since filmed, edited, and directed his way into the industry.
"... so yeah, it took me some time to figure it all out. But I always knew I was on the right path and everything I've learned along the way has formed me into the director I am today."
